The San Pedro family has a centuries-long heritage of vineyard working and winemaking in the village of Laguardia, located in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. Bodegas Vallobera owns 110 ha of prime vineyards. Vallobera is his highest-located vineyard and, in fact, one of the highest among the vineyards in the Rioja wine region. It has 14 ha and produces very good grapes. The Vallobera vineyard has been chosen as the trademark of the wines.
Winemaking: After the harvest the grapes are destalked, crushed and fermented for 25 days at a maximum temperature of 28ºC and during these days the wines are pumped over manually 4 times a day. The wine undergoes the malolactic fermentation in 6-7 days. Afterwards, 40% of the wine is aged in French oak and 60% in American oak for 14 months. Every 6 months the wine is racked to control its evolution.
